Oh well...

we have been trying for the last 1/2 hour to get a picture loaded on here, unfortunately the picture is too large and the computer doesn't have any photo editing software for us to resize it... at least not that we can figure out in russian!

Today we were able to take Eli on a short trip to get his passport picture taken... he was so concentrating on sitting still like the photographer said that he wouldn't smile... but he looked cute anyway!

Other than that we had a good visit with him, however he is getting more and more upset every time we have to leave him there, he is ready to be gone, as are we!

Beaven- Kenny says that he is sorry he missed your dress fitting ;)

And as for what superhero he likes, right now it appears he likes Minnie Mouse and Flowers since he is often dressed in girls clothes... as I said, no gender specific clothing at this place!

We tried out a new resteraunt today, it was really nice... you would have never known it from the street... they had the best garlic rolls... better than any I have tasted in the US...

Last night I finished my book... wish I had the sequel to read right now, and Kenny watched Caddy Shack... We also took a nice long walk... we also stopped by the grocery and found Kenny some Nutella to eat and me some bread and cheese, so that was dinner for last night...

One other bit of good news, Galya's trip yesterday went great and it appears we are on schedule to get out of here next Friday... that means we are in the single digits of nights left to stay in the Ukraine... we can't wait!!!!! and less than a week until we are able to take him from the orphanage for good!

That's it for now, we are going to go back to playing with the pictures to see how we might be able to get them to you all.

All our Love,
Kenny and Shannon

Well, well, well...........I am the first one to comment on your new post. No slackers here! Sounds like things are going well. Glad to know you both are using your time so well, Shannon by reading, and Kenny by watching quality movies like Caddyshack. There is nothing wrong with Eli liking Minnie Mouse, she is one of Aaron's favorites also. You will have to take him to Disney someday to see her in person. When you get back I will show you a picture of Minnie and I. I tell everyone that when we went to Disney the girls were hanging all over me, of course I am talking about Minnie and Cinderella. Jake and Aaron have a game tonight against the Reds. Maybe we can win one after losing a heartbreaker Monday night 14-13. Each day you all are getting closer and closer to coming home and we look forward to seeing you just like your family is. God Bless, and talk soon.

Hi Shannon,
Although I have not entered a comment, you have certainly been on my mind and in my prayers. I am so excited for you and your family. I can't wait for you to get home, so Jake can meet Eli. I have sat here with tears of joy while reading your blog. What an amazing journey!
When my youngest daughter was in kindergarten, one of her classmates was a little girl who had been adopted from Russia and like Eli, she was very small in size. It did not take her long to catch up once she got settled in and started eating healthy meals. I have not doubt in my mind that Eli will catch up in size as well.
Eli is very lucky to have such a great family adopting him. I can't imagine what he has been through in is life, but his future is going to be AWESOME!
Take care.

I am going to try one more time on Beavins suggestion. If you get this it worked if not I guess it didn't and you will never know. Can't wait until next weekend. I bet Jake will be counting the minutes.I am so glad that he has already connected with the two of you so well. Be safe and happy.

I'm so glad things are progressing "smoothly" for you all. I guess that is easy for me to say huh? When you get back you'll have to bring Eli up to St. Bernard and let him practice T-ball with Olivia's team. You know . . . go ahead and get him started, no sense waiting!

I just read your blog to Olivia. She wanted to know why they don't have any boy clothes for Eli. She also said she doesn't care if Eli comes and practices with her t-ball team and that she has some boys clothes that he can have. Well now she isn't sure if she has some boys clothes, but we'll go and look and see if she has some that maybe look like boys clothes. She wants you to bring her one of the "big bows" that the girls wear and said she likes Minnie Mouse and flowers. (Think this is the most that she has ever talked to you!) ha ha

Good luck on your quest for good food! Enjoy your time there and with Eli! See you soon!!

Hey, Sorry it took so me so long to comment. They won't let me on your blog at work, which is where I would have more time to play around with it. I have to wait for Beau to get your blog up on his laptop. I've never sent a blog message before, so don;t even know if this will work. I think what you all are doing is just great. I love reading about Eli & I can't wait to meet him, as I'm sure everyone is. Not much happening here. After next week, I'm off for 3 weeks! The 2nd week, we're going to Panama City with 3 other families-Beau is going too. Ken, now I'm the only one in the family with just 1 kid. I wish I would have had more. It doesn't sound like you all have it too rough over there - except for being away from everybody. Hang in there and it'll be over before you know it. Love, Linda, David and Beau

Glad to hear you all should be coming home soon. We can't wait to meet Eli. By the way, Jake's team beat Brayden's team 15 to 5. I am sure that doesn't surprise you!

Hey Kenny & Shannon,

It's 8 am on Thursday and I didn't want to be a slacker. Thank you sooo much for Jake and the rest of the second graders (not that you are responsible for the others) who are playing on the 3/4 grade baseball team. They really played well considering they have had 2 practices and not one with more than 6 players or the same players. They won their first game last night and really had some great defensive plays. God love Ian, will someone (besides me or Danny - he takes directions better from a non-parent coach)take the time and teach him a position!!!! He was playing third but didn't understand the position. Oh well, no harm as most kids hit to the pitcher or second base.

I bet it is eating you up not to be able to post those pictures. I know it is killing everyone back here as we are dying to see this precious little boy. It tears me up everytime you mention he gets upset when you leave as that seams to be the hardest part on your downhill slide.

I wouldn't worry about the clothes issue, although he may be confused by all the blue/green/dark clothes when he gets home since he has been wearing pastels. I am sure he will be one of the sharpest dressed kids though!!!!

Ditto on the food issue. I bet your first stop off the plane on your layover will be good ol' American grease food.

Can't wait to see those pictures!!!

Love,
DP & Laura

Hey..I commented last night and it didn't show up:( Let's see...what did I tell you?! Oh yeah some good stuff about Jake getting "camper of the day" at b-ball camp on Tuesday and the boys throwing WET underwear at each other in the bathroom at the pool yesterday. Not sure what they were wet with, whose underwear they were or who's idea it was, but because Angie was in charge of most of them we just blamed her! What a babysitter!
It sounds like we need to work on Eli's "photogenicness"! I hope he isn't already visually impaired by all the flashes he's been exposed to! Now if WE could just see one of the thousands of pictures youhave taken of him. I DON'T CARE IF IT'S BIG!!! I'll just look at his nostril, pores an eyelash...I'll take anything at this point! Did I happen to mention to you that I am kind of impatient?!
Well, keep the Mr. Eli stories coming. I get a little picture of him in my head everytime you tell us about your visits! I miss you terribly! I CAN NOT WAIT FOR NEXT WEEKEND!
Love you,
Paige

Kenny, Shannon and Eli, The Red Sox finally won another game. After losing several heartbreakers we beat the Reds last night. John, his coaches, and kids are all such a great group of people. It is always a pleasure to play them, even if we wouldn't have won. Jake and Aaron both had Home Runs last night, way to go Jake! I bet the three of you will be excited to get home. Eli probably can't even imagine what kind of better life he will have once you all get home. He has a great brother, two wonderful parents, and extended family. We are enjoying getting to know your Mom and Dad at the ball games and practices, they are such nice people. I tease your Dad every time we see each other about the upcoming schedule. I told him sometimes I don't know what is going on so it is hard for me to pass it along to him. What is you target date to get home now? I know its down to single digits. Jake and Aaron have their first All Star practice tonight. The Red Sox play Friday night the 15th, then tourney Sat morning the 16th at 11:00, and if they win they will play the winner of the Yankees and Orioles on Monday the 18th at 6:00. Also, the Fire has a doubleheader on Father's Day but unsure of the times right now, will probably find out tonight. The Red Sox are going to the Bats game on Mon the 25th and they get to stand on the field with the players in case I did not tell you. Shannon, is there anything at all you need for Eli? We would like to get you guys something for him when you get home and was wondering if there was anything you needed, clothes, toys, etc. Just let us know! Stay safe, and we are still praying for you daily. God Bless.

Hi Shannon~ one of our fellow co-workers shared your blog with me knowing I'd appreciate your journey stories... since my hubby and I had similar journeys almost 9 years ago when we adoped our son from Russia. I have so enjoyed reading your experiences because it takes me totally back to when we were there and eating yummy spaghetti, garlic rolls and the best soups I've ever had in my life. Also, the Coca-Cola light! So many other things you've mentioned are just way to similar to me, too... Like, loving "Entourage", reading "Size 12 Isn't Fat"... too funny! I just wanted you to know I'm praying for you guys and wish you the very best. Tell Eli he's already loved! Fondly, Carolyn Halvarson

Hi Shannon, I'm so glad to hear everything is going so well with the adoption. Eli sounds wonderful and I know will bring so much joy to your family (as he already has). Your stories are so uplifting, and I know Eli is one lucky little guy to have you as his new mommy. The experiences you are already giving him are just a blip on the radar to the happiness he will see as part of your family. Good luck with the rest of the journey! Can't wait to see pics :)
